Route 66, Westbound & Eastbound.

Your adventure on Historic Route 66 will take you along the world-famous “Mother Road” Highway. You begin your tour in Chicago, IL, and ride over 2,500 exciting miles to Santa Monica, CA. Along the way, you will pass through 9 states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California, making stops in some of the most beautiful and historic American cities.

You will get a definite sense of the 1950s Midwest as you ride into the Ozark Mountains, along with the Old West Indian country in Oklahoma, across the Great Plains, through the 400-year-old city Santa Fe, NM, and into Nevada gambling Mecca, Laughlin. By the time you make it back to Los Angeles, you will have toured the best of the Mainstream of America; Historic Route 66!

ITINERARY WESTBOUND

Day 1: Chicago to Frontenac, Missouri

(Driving day 1: 326 miles)

This morning start the ultimate American road trip. The legendary Historic Route 66 begins at the Chicago lakefront and cuts through the state of Illinois before running all the way to the Pacific Coast. From Chicago, you head south the first miles of the Mother Road.

Day 2: Frontenac to Tulsa, Oklahoma

(Driving day 2: 403 miles)

Enjoy a view of the St. Louis Arch and the Mississippi River before we hit the road. We quickly leave the city in mirrors as we settle in to enjoy the rolling Missouri hills that make this area so beautiful and fun to ride in as we make our way to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Day 3: Tulsa to Amarillo, Texas

(Driving day 3: 386 miles)

Ride along some of the oldest stretches of Oklahoma Route 66. Once the land of vast buffalo herds, this section of 66 traverses some of the great cattle trails that were used in the 1860s to drive herds of cattle from Texas up to the railhead in Abilene, Kansas.

Day 4: Amarillo to Santa Fe, New Mexico

(Driving day 4: 295 miles)

Today you leave Texas and are on your way into The Land of Enchantment; New Mexico, after passing through the world-famous Cadillac Ranch.

Day 5: Santa Fe to Gallup, New Mexico

(Driving day 5: 216 miles)

Today is full of spectacular scenery and iconic Route 66 stops. We will make our way to the town of Gallup and stay at a very famous vintage Hotel.

Day 6: Gallup to Williams, Arizona

(Driving day 6: 209 miles)

This will be a day of desert driving and unique nature. First, we ride in Navajo and Apache territory to Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. We drive through this wonderful nature reserve, which is a memory for life. We continue to Holbrook and Winslow, where we make a stop at the “corner”. Eagles fans know what “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona” means.

After our glucose recovery, we continue along Route 66 to Williams, which is one of the coolest destinations on Route 66. We will stay here for a fun night.

Day 7: Williams to Laughlin, Nevada

(Driving day 7: 224 miles)

Today we stop near the border of our final State on Route 66…California! One thing is for sure, today is a day like no other as the road offers some of the most dramatic scenery of the trip. You can imagine what it must have been like for early Route 66 travelers.

Day 8: Laughlin to Santa Monica, California

(Driving day 8: 224 miles)

You made it! 2,500 miles thru America’s heartland. We roll into Los Angeles early afternoon, with plenty of time to experience the adventures found along Santa Monica Pier and the beautiful Pacific coast beaches. We meet out on the pier for a final group shot, with the End of the Trail sign in the background.

Home travel, rest & fun day!

Day 1: Santa Monica, California

We meet at the hotel for a welcome meeting, before we head to the legendary Santa Monica Pier for a fun evening. We take a group shot with the famous Route 66 Trail sign in the background.

Day 2: Santa Monica to Laughlin, Nevada

(Driving day 1: 224 miles)

This morning we start the ultimate American road trip. The legendary Historic Route 66 begins in the City of Angels and cuts through California before running all the way to the Chicago lakefront.

From Los Angeles, you head northwest on the first miles of the “The Mother Road”. We stop at a Nevada gambling Mecca; Laughlin. Enjoy!

Day 3: Laughlin to Williams, Arizona

(Driving day 2: 224 miles)

One thing is for sure, today is a day like no other as the road offers some of the most dramatic scenery of the trip. You can imagine what it must have been like for early Route 66 travelers.

Today we enter the Cowboy/Star state and a famous steak house. On our way to Amarillo, we pass through the world-famous Cadillac Ranch.

Day 7: Amarillo to Tulsa, Oklahoma

(Driving day 6: 386 miles)
